In 2002, we were contacted by a Mexican medium size manufacturer who needed a very critical freight from Barcelona.
Normally there was a forwarder, however they didn’t provide customer with a good and reliable follow up.
The customer planned their production based on the expected time or arrival provided by the forwarder and the problema again was that the goods were not loaded due to “major reason causes”.
When the shipments arrived in time, there were no documents to arrange the customs clearance and then they had to pay lots of warehousing and demurrages extra charges.
Amazingly, when the manufacturer contacted Mardin, their only request was “please always tell us the truth”.
Surprised by this strange request we started to make our job with our agent in Barcelona and since we informed for the first time the status of the shipment, our customers was even more and more shocked as we gave him an information even before the goods were shipped.
Thanks to this previous control we always do, we detected lots of documentation failures which created extra taxes, bad tax classification, and expenses in the customs clearance.
Nowadays we are happy and proud of our customer’s confidence, thanks to our honest and in-time information.
After this, we were nominated to handle their customs clearances in the ports so we learned to make real door to door shipments.
We all succeeded.
